Design studios

Keep the brief, the feedback and the reviewed file together.

Coordinate client objectives, design tasks and file handover while keeping creative production in the specialist tools your studio prefers.

Four team members review documents around a table in a bright studio, with blue portfolios and coral stationery in front of them.

A useful critique needs the right brief and version.

A studio needs more than a folder full of exports. It needs the purpose of the work, the person deciding and a record of agreed changes. Tsumira provides documents, tasks and file conversations around that work, without becoming an image editor or claiming an integration with your design application.

A concrete workflow

  1. Brief

Record audience, deliverables and the decision-maker.

  2. Produce

Assign design work and track the time invested.

  3. Review

Discuss the relevant file and turn agreed feedback into tasks.

  4. Share

Share the reviewed version with the intended audience.

Write a brief the team can revise together.

Use Docs to capture audience, deliverables and practical constraints. Shared editing and revision history support internal development of the brief. Keep the customer decision separate from an exploratory comment so the team knows which direction is agreed and which idea still needs discussion.

  • Collaborative briefs with revision history

Discuss the file without losing the reasoning.

Drive gives files and folders a connected conversation. Colleagues with file access can discuss the material beside it. Use that space for review reasoning and assign concrete production tasks in the project. A discussion thread is not a specialist proofing tool with pixel-level annotation.

  • File conversations and project actions

Know exactly what the client received.

An external Drive link opens one specific file version and can be time-limited or revoked. Internal comments remain private. When a new export is ready, review it and intentionally share that version instead of assuming that an old link now points to the latest design.

  • Time-limited, revocable file links

An illustrative working example

Illustrative scenario: a packaging concept

A studio develops packaging options. The brief records the intended audience, file conversations hold internal critique, and the project plan tracks revisions. After the team chooses the client-facing export, the account owner shares that particular version. Editable source files remain in the studio's production environment. The client requests a change to one option while the studio is still exploring another. The account owner records which direction is agreed and which remains exploratory. Production tasks refer to that decision rather than treating every comment as an instruction. Before delivery, a colleague verifies the export and the external link's version. The pilot checks whether the next designer can understand the selected direction without joining every earlier conversation.

Questions about this topic

Can we edit design source files in Tsumira?

No design editor is claimed. Create the work in your specialist tools and use Tsumira for coordination, reference files and sharing.

Do clients see internal comments?

Not through an external Drive file link. Internal conversations require file access and remain separate from that link.

Does a new upload update a shared link?

The external link stays on the version shared. Share a newly reviewed version deliberately when the recipient needs it.

Is this a digital asset management system?

It provides file organization and access. Check specialist asset metadata, licensing, rendition and distribution requirements separately.
