Website chat for customer questions
Let visitors ask a question where they already are.
Embed a configured support widget with your appearance, visitor wording, permitted website origins and a deliberate offline experience.
The public invitation should match the service behind it.
A website question should reach a team capable of continuing the conversation. The widget gives visitors a focused entry point connected to helpdesk work. Configure its identity and intake expectations before embedding it. Displaying a chat launcher is not a promise that an agent is currently available, that every answer is immediate or that an AI bot will autonomously solve the request.
Configure appearance and allowed websites.
Choose left or right placement, suitable accent color, localized launcher and greeting text, and the displayed title or logo. Limit embedding to the permitted website origins. Test on the actual domain and mobile layout rather than reviewing only the internal preview. Visitor-facing configuration should expose the conversation experience, not internal team settings, mailbox links or operational access rules.
- Localized appearance and explicitly permitted embed origins
Ask for useful intake information without unnecessary friction.
Configure whether to ask for a name and whether email is requested never, always or only when offline. Additional supported pre-chat fields can capture a small amount of context. Choose required fields carefully: a customer should understand why information is needed and how the team will respond. File uploads depend on the configured option and the actual upload checks, not merely on an attachment icon.
- Optional pre-chat fields and configurable email collection
Plan the offline path and the agent conversation.
When nobody is online, the widget can show a form with name, email and message, or hide the launcher according to configuration. Received requests remain support work that needs triage and a reply. Test the transition into the agent's queue and the visitor's continuing conversation. Abuse protection depends on its configured service; it is not a claim that every automated or malicious submission is eliminated.
- Offline form or hidden launcher with a tested support handover

An illustrative working example
Illustrative scenario: a question on the services page
A visitor asks about a service from the website. The widget collects only the context the team needs, then the request appears in support work. During staffed hours an agent continues the conversation; offline the configured form captures a reply address. The rollout tests allowed origins, mobile placement and whether the visitor can understand the waiting expectation. An internal agent note remains separate from what the visitor sees.
