SWITCHING GUIDE
Looking for an Odoo alternative? Map the operational boundary first
Build a transition plan around the processes you actually want to change. Separate customer and project work from stock, production, accounting and custom records before piloting Tsumira.
Read the product comparisonA replacement decision starts with what must keep working
An alternative search often begins after a difficult change, an unclear handover or a growing administration burden. Write down the observed problem rather than assuming the whole ERP must disappear. Your aim is a dependable operating process. A smaller change, retained specialist software or a bounded new workspace may each be a reasonable outcome.
A concrete workflow
Inventory before selecting
Map modules, custom records and dependencies. Select only the customer-to-project scope that addresses the documented problem.
Test a sample transfer
Map a limited company, contact and opportunity sample. Reconcile counts and relationships before importing a broader data set.
Make a staged decision
Evaluate the pilot with operational owners. Approve expansion, retained systems or a stop based on evidence rather than sunk migration effort.
Create a module and dependency inventory
List the records and processes used today, including custom fields, approvals and reports. For each, identify an owner and the downstream work that depends on it. Separate customer relationships and service projects from inventory, manufacturing and financial transactions. Mark anything that has not been demonstrated in Tsumira as unresolved. This inventory defines the replacement boundary; it is not a promise that every existing module can be moved.
- Record custom behavior and the people relying on it.
- Name the processes that stay in the existing environment.
Prepare a data set that can be reconciled
Request appropriate exports and preserve an unchanged reference copy. Build a mapping for companies, contacts and opportunities, which have CSV import paths in Tsumira. Check identifiers, parent relationships, duplicates and required fields on a small sample. Historical invoices, stock movements, production data, attachments and custom objects need separate treatment; do not silently turn them into unsupported imports.
- Compare record counts and representative relationships.
- Keep an owner for each unresolved data category.
Run the service-work pilot without a financial cutover
Choose one ongoing customer engagement and a small group. Agree where new information is recorded during the pilot so that two competing versions do not develop. Tsumira finance currently uses whole JPY and Japanese consumption tax. German accounting, DATEV and local invoice formats are not verified replacement capabilities. Keep essential financial and stock processes in their qualified systems until a separate decision is supported.
- Define the authoritative record during the trial.
- Set a rollback point before changing production responsibilities.
An illustrative working example
Illustrative transition: keep the warehouse, test service delivery
A business wants clearer project communication while its warehouse process remains essential. It pilots one consulting engagement in Tsumira with a controlled customer sample. Warehouse and financial records stay in the existing environment. The final review asks whether the intended handover improved and whether record ownership stayed clear; it does not present a successful pilot as a complete ERP migration.
Questions about this topic
Must every Odoo module be replaced together?
No. Start from the problem and dependencies. A partial operational change can be appropriate if responsibility, retained records and any necessary connection are explicit and verified.
Can all historical data be imported by CSV?
No universal import is promised. Tsumira has CSV paths for companies, contacts and opportunities. Assess every other record type separately, including relationships and access to the original history.
When should we stop the transition?
Stop when an essential process has no demonstrated home, reconciliation fails or the team cannot identify the authoritative record. Resolve the gap before increasing the scope.
What is the exit criterion for the pilot?
The chosen team should complete a real customer case, locate the required information and explain remaining work. Operational owners should approve the result and the documented limitations.
